Emergency Measures in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir Amid Security Crisis
April 27, 2025 — Pressure from Indian security forces is mounting in Jammu and Kashmir. As a result, panic appears to be spreading across Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Local authorities are taking urgent administrative measures.
The Health Directorate of Jhelum Valley has issued an emergency order. It prohibits all healthcare personnel from taking leave. Personnel are also prohibited from being transferred from their current posts in hospitals and medical units. Dated April 26, the directive cites an “emergency situation.” The situation has raised alarms within Indian intelligence agencies. They are concerned about possible unusual military or militant activity near the Line of Control (LoC). This is particularly concerning across from the sensitive Pahalgam sector.
The sudden move restricts the use of government vehicles for non-official purposes. It signals a heightened state of alert. It also hints at growing unease within the PoK administration. Security sources think this may be linked to intelligence inputs. These suggest potential infiltration attempts. There is also increased militant mobilization in South Kashmir, particularly around Pahalgam and nearby regions.
In response, Indian security forces have ramped up patrols and surveillance across Pahalgam and Anantnag districts. Troop deployments have been strengthened and vigilance levels raised, especially in sectors facing the Jhelum Valley across the LoC.
The Indian Army remains on a heightened state of preparedness. It is reinforcing its position along the LoC. This ensures that any threats are swiftly and decisively countered. Officials reiterated India’s unwavering commitment to maintaining the security and integrity of the region.
