ISRO’s Anvesha Launch: Elevating India’s Space Supremacy

India’s space agency ISRO marks 2026’s opening with the PSLV-C62 mission. The mission involves deploying the advanced EOS-N1 satellite. It is also called Anvesha and was launched from Sriharikota on January 12. This Earth observation powerhouse strengthens India’s surveillance edge while showcasing reliable launch technology and private sector innovation. Deploying alongside 18 international payloads, Anvesha cements ISRO’s role as a global launch leader.

Mission Details and Technical Feat

The PSLV-DL variant has two strap-on boosters. It lifts off at 10:17 AM IST for its 64th flight. This is the fifth flight in this configuration and ISRO’s 101st orbital mission. Anvesha separates first after 18 minutes into a 511 km sun-synchronous orbit. It travels at 27,400 km/h. Co-passengers follow over the next 108 minutes. Key riders include OrbitAID’s AayulSAT for India’s first in-orbit refueling demo and Dhruva Space’s AI-enabled MOI-1. ​

Boosting National Surveillance Capabilities

Anvesha equips India with radar and optical imaging for border monitoring and strategic terrain scans. It is also used for urban planning and mineral exploration. It aids in disaster response and environmental tracking. Joining a fleet of military satellites, it delivers real-time intelligence, enhancing defense readiness in tense regions. Civilian uses extend to agriculture optimization and climate analysis, directly supporting policy decisions. ​
