Whale Wearables: Empowering Women with Innovative Self-Defense

In a memorable episode of Shark Tank India 4, founders Nandita Yenagi and Sharad Patil captured the panel’s attention. They presented their revolutionary self-defence wearables. These innovative gadgets are designed to deliver an electrical shock as a protective measure. They aim to empower women. They seek to change the narrative on safety in public spaces.

During the pitch, Nandita recounted a personal incident of eve teasing that left a lasting impression on her. “That experience changed my life,” she said. She explained how the trauma spurred her to create accessible, easy-to-use self-defense tools. The incident highlighted the urgent need for practical safety solutions. She participated in a candle march for the Nirbhaya case. This event reinforced the need for change in a society still grappling with gender-based harassment.

Whale Wearables was driven by a mission to safeguard women. They sought an investment of ₹30 lakh. This was for a 3% equity stake in their company. Their compelling narrative and dedication resonated with the Sharks, sparking an engaging discussion. Prominent investors Aman Gupta and Vineeta Singh were impressed by the brand’s potential to revolutionize personal safety. They agreed to invest the full ₹30 lakh. This sealed a deal that promises to amplify the startup’s impact.

Post-show, an excited Nandita shared, “Our journey began with a singular goal. We aimed to empower women with self-defence tools that are both innovative and practical. Today, we are one step closer to ensuring that every woman feels safe and in control.” With this crucial backing, Whale Wearables plans to scale up production. They aim to further enhance product innovation and expand their reach across India. This ensures that women from all walks of life can protect themselves in any situation.
