Ceasefire Violation at LoC: Pakistan Opens Fire, India Retaliates
Tensions continue to escalate between India and Pakistan following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 civilian lives. In the latest development, several Pakistani Army posts along the Line of Control (LoC) reported small arms fire overnight. This incident is causing concern. According to official sources, the intensity and pattern of the firing is highly unusual. This marks a departure from recent months of relative calm.
In response to the provocation, the Indian Army returned fire in a calibrated and proportionate manner. There have been no reports of injuries or fatalities on the Indian side so far. Military officials are currently evaluating the incident and monitoring developments along the LoC.
Amid the growing tension, Pakistan has imposed a no-fly zone over sections of the Arabian Sea. They cited a possible missile test. The move has further raised alarm in regional security circles, given the current volatile atmosphere.
Bandipora Gunbattle: Militants Engaged
In a separate development, security forces launched a counter-terror operation in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir. A gunfight broke out between militants and Indian forces. Two personnel from the escort team of a senior police official were injured. One terrorist is believed to be wounded but still at large.
Udhampur Encounter: Special Forces Soldier Killed
Just days earlier, an operation in Udhampur district resulted in the death of a Special Forces soldier. This has added to the growing toll from ongoing militant activity in the region. The incident is being linked to the broader security crackdown in the aftermath of the Pahalgam massacre.

Security agencies have intensified their manhunt. They are looking for a group of five to six terrorists. This group is suspected to be behind the Pahalgam killings.
