Exercise Tiger Triumph 2025 Concludes with Grand Display of Joint Operations on DV Day in Kakinada

Kakinada, April 11, 2025 — The fourth edition of the bilateral tri-service Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Exercise Tiger Triumph 2025 concluded. The event was successful. It was an exercise between India and the United States. The culmination was marked by a high-impact Distinguished Visitors’ (DV) Day. This event took place at Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. It showcased an impressive array of coordinated amphibious operations by the armed forces of both nations.

Senior military and diplomatic dignitaries attended. Attendees were the Flag Officer Commanding Tamil Nadu & Puducherry Naval Area (FOTNA). Also present were the US Consul General, Commander US Navy Strike Group Five, and the Deputy GOC 54 Infantry Division. They witnessed the culmination of the 11-day long exercise. This exercise reflected exceptional levels of interoperability, jointmanship, and strategic cooperation.

DV Day Demonstrations: Amphibious Might on Display

Held on April 11, the DV Day featured complex, high-tempo operations onshore and offshore Kakinada. Key highlights included:

• Standoff and Hard Beaching operations
• Slithering drills by Indian and US Special Operations Forces from Sea King and Mi-17V5 helicopters
• Participation of C-130 transport aircraft
• Coordinated aerial operations involving the Indian Navy, Army, Air Force, as well as the US Navy, Army, and Marine Corps

These drills symbolized the high level of mutual understanding. Technical synergy between the two militaries was built steadily over the course of the exercise.

Dual-Phased Training: From Harbour to High Seas

Exercise Tiger Triumph 2025, held from April 1 to 11, was conducted in two distinct phases:

1. Harbour Phase (April 1–7) — Visakhapatnam

The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Jorgan K. Andrews, Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy, and Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena, Chief of Staff, Eastern Naval Command. The harbour phase featured:

• Pre-sail conferences
• Subject Matter Expert Exchanges (SMEEs) on Medical Support, Drone Technology, and Space-based applications
• Cross-deck visits and ship boarding drills
• Friendly sports fixtures to foster camaraderie

2. Sea Phase (April 8–11) — Off Kakinada Coast

This phase showcased:

• Troop landings at Kakinada by Indian and US forces
• Maritime and amphibious assault operations
• Cross-deck aircraft landings
• Setup of a Joint Relief and Medical Camp by Indian Rapid Action Medical Team (RAMT) and US counterparts
• Establishment of a Combined Coordination Centre (CCC) to oversee HADR response strategies

Strengthening Strategic Synergies

Initiated in 2019, Exercise Tiger Triumph is a cornerstone in India-US defense collaboration. It aims to strengthen operational coordination during humanitarian crises. The 2025 edition emphasized logistics integration and emerging technologies. It also focused on combat-readiness under the framework of the Logistics Exchange Memorandum of Agreement (LEMOA).

This exercise underscored the shared commitment of India and the United States to regional stability. It emphasized collaborative disaster relief capabilities. This reaffirmed their growing defense partnership.
