India’s Precision Strikes at Kirana Hills Reportedly Trigger Nuclear Emergency in Pakistan
Radiation leak suspected; U.S. surveillance and Egyptian Boron shipment suggest serious aftermath of BrahMos offensive
In a significant escalation of recent hostilities, Indian forces reportedly targeted Pakistan’s nuclear storage site at Kirana Hills. They used BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles. The strike, described as precise and deeply tactical, has reportedly led to a radiation incident, raising alarm across the region.
Shortly after the attack, a U.S. Department of Energy B-350 AMS aircraft, typically used for monitoring radioactive fallout, was spotted flying over Pakistan. This deployment is seen by experts as an indicator of suspected nuclear contamination following the Indian assault.
In a rapid response to the suspected radiation leak, an Egyptian aircraft (flight no. EGY1916) landed at Nur Khan Air Base in Rawalpindi, carrying an emergency consignment of Boron. The chemical is commonly used in nuclear incidents to absorb radiation. It is known to be available in large quantities in Egypt’s Nile Delta.
Sources indicate that Egypt acted upon a request from the United States. In a display of regional diplomacy, Egypt confirmed its course of action with India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar before dispatching the shipment.
The Indian strikes reportedly hit two key locations. One is Nur Khan Air Base, near Rawalpindi. The other is the Kirana Hills complex, a long-suspected nuclear storage and missile development site. Defence analysts say the BrahMos missile’s speed and precision were crucial. They made it possible to neutralize these hardened targets without causing widespread collateral damage.
Sources close to Indian strategic circles emphasize that the decision to strike was based on operational intelligence. It also relied on meteorological precision. One key factor was the wind direction at the time of the strike. It was west to east. This meant any potential radiation would not affect Indian territory. This demonstrated both tactical foresight and humanitarian consideration.
India’s approach to the conflict avoids indiscriminate escalation. It involves executing high-impact strikes. This strategy has reaffirmed New Delhi’s doctrine of proportional response. India’s strategy emphasizes restraint in escalation. It also focuses on executing impactful strikes. The strike has also highlighted India’s capability to act decisively when core national security interests are threatened.
Following the incident, U.S. experts are believed to have landed in Rawalpindi to assess the potential nuclear fallout. Islamabad and Washington have not publicly confirmed the presence of radiation. However, the emergency shipment of Boron suggests serious concern. Aerial surveillance also indicates significant worry behind the scenes.
Director General of Air Operations, Air Marshal AK Bharti, on Monday confirmed that the Indian armed forces did not target the nuclear facility. This facility is located at Kirana Hills in Pakistan. Responding to a query during a press conference on Monday, Bharti said, “Thank you for informing us about Kirana Hills. It houses some nuclear installations.” We did not know about it. And we have not hit Kirana Hills, whatever is there.” His remarks came amid speculation and social media chatter. The chatter claimed that India had struck the Mushaf Airbase in Sargodha. This base is reportedly linked to underground nuclear storage beneath the Kirana Hills. The strike reportedly used loitering and penetrating munitions.
India’s actions send a clear message: support for terrorism will not deter a calibrated Indian response. Reliance on nuclear posturing will also not deter a capable Indian response. Regional tensions are still simmering. The events surrounding Kirana Hills may well mark a turning point in South Asia’s security calculus.
