Journey of Shivangi Singh from First Woman Rafale Pilot to Trainer
Indian Air Force’s first woman Rafale pilot Squadron Leader Shivangi Singh has been assigned a new role. Squadron Leader Shivangi Singh has been assigned to a premier training establishment where she will mentor young fighter pilots. The officer has now transitioned to flying the Hawk advanced jet trainer. This marks her shift from frontline operations to shaping the next cohort of combat aviators.
During Operation Sindoor, Pakistan ran multiple fake news stories about Squadron Leader Shivangi Singh. They falsely claimed that she was captured by Pakistan’s forces. During a recent press conference, The Chief of Air Force, Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh was asked why the Indian Air Force did not react to Pakistan’s fake claims. He said that we should not get bothered by Pakistan’s ‘Manohar Kahaaniyaan’.

Squadron Leader Shivangi Singh was commissioned in 2017, the Varanasi-born officer belongs to the second batch of women fighter pilots. She previously flew the MiG-21 Bison. She then moved to Ambala’s Rafale squadron. There she gained recognition for her professionalism during high-intensity missions and major Air Force exercises. Her performance earned her a strong operational reputation within the fighter stream. She also accompanied President Draupadi Murmu on her recent Rafale sortie in Air Force Station Ambala.
The picture from Shivangi Singh’s graduation from the prestigious Flying Instructors School in Tambaram recently caught attention. Pakistan’s lie was busted yet again. It was the occasion when Squadron Leader Shivangi completed one of the toughest aviation courses in the military.
Officials now confirm that she has taken charge at a training unit. Her experience with legacy fighters will play a crucial role. Her expertise with next-generation fighters will help in preparing future IAF fighter pilots.
