T-90 Tanks Showcase High-Altitude Warfare Capabilities in Recent Drills

Indian Army’s Trishakti Corps has conducted a month long live firing exercise with T-90 tanks.

The corps is responsible for defending Sikkim and the strategically vital Siliguri Corridor. It conducted this exercise to enhance combat preparedness close to the Bangladesh border. The live fire drills validated modern armoured warfare strategies in different operational scenarios. The exercise showcased the high-altitude warfare capabilities of the T-90 tanks. It also demonstrated their ability to integrate with advanced technologies for future battlefield challenges.
The T-90 tank is one of the most modern main battle tanks in the Indian Army’s arsenal. It is equipped with advanced fire control systems, superior mobility, and enhanced protection. A key feature of the T-90 is its ability to fire anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs) with pinpoint accuracy. This allows it to engage enemy armour at extended ranges. Additionally, the tank is highly effective in night operations as it is empowered with thermal imaging sights and advanced sensors. These features ensure round-the-clock combat capability in all weather conditions and high altitude battlefields.

The exercise saw firing of advanced ammunition and guided missiles to validate precision strike capabilities. It also included drones for real-time surveillance and target acquisition. During the exercise Indian Army’s capabilities to team up and coordinate with machine was evident. Indian Army has been conducting these exercises to enhance high-altitude operational preparedness along the eastern sector. The drill also promoted Aatmanirbharta by incorporating indigenously developed defence technologies, including locally manufactured ammunition and surveillance systems.

This exercise is similar to Exercise Devil Strike. It focuses on airborne and special forces operations. These operations enhance rapid deployment and precision-strike capabilities in challenging environments. Executing these high-intensity drills in succession highlights the Indian Army’s integrated approach to modern warfare. This approach ensures coordination between armoured, airborne, and special forces in diverse combat situations.
