Farhan Akhtar Confident of Jee Le Zara but not about its Star Cast

Farhan Akhtar had announced Jee Le Zara in 2021 starring Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt. The film is about a road trip somewhat in lines with Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Speculations have been around whether the movie has been shelved. Farhan Akhtar in an interview sets the record straight.

Farhan Akhtar Shares Update About Jee Le Zaraa

In an interview on the YouTube channel ‘Our Stupid Reactions’, Farhan Akhtar was asked a question. It was about whether Jee Le Zaraa, starring Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra, and Katrina Kaif, has been shelved. He replied, “I would hate to say that it’s shelved. What I will say is that it’s put on a backburner. It is a film that will happen. I don’t know when it will be. But it’s too delicious a script.” He further stated that it’s just on hold currently, and that the film will definitely happen.

“And there’s so much work that has already been done on it. I finished all the location scouts, have recorded music for the film. All of the stuff is done. So it’s just a matter of time that we need to, we’ll get back to it again. I can’t comment on the cast on that anymore. But will the film happen? The film will happen,” he said.

Jee Le Zaraa Delay

Jee Le Zara is touted to be a road-trip film. It is similar to the hit film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. This film starred Hrithik Roshan and Abhay Deol. Rumours had earlier claimed that Katrina and Priyanka are no longer a part of the film.

During an interview with Variety in 2023, Farhan Akhtar claimed that the dates were an issue behind the delay. He told the publication, “We just have issues with dates. The actor’s strike has put Priyanka’s dates into a huge tizzy. It affects what can happen and what can’t. I’ve started genuinely believing that the film now has a destiny of its own. It’ll happen when it has to, we’ll see.”

When Priyanka Chopra is Excited for Jee Le Zaraa

In 2021, while announcing Jee Le Zaraa, Priyanka Chopra shared a note that read, “Let’s rewind, to me musing about wanting to do another Hindi movie ASAP, on an unusually rainy night in Mumbai in Nov 2019. But it had to be the right one – different, cool, never been done before… I thought. The idea grew into a movie helmed by an all-female cast. There are not enough Hindi movies that are female multi-starrers. This led to an impulsive phone call… to my 2 real friends about this idea that involved 3 on-screen girlfriends. A celebration of friendship we called it!!”

“Katrina, Alia, and I enthusiastically met in February 2020 (as seen in this picture). This was just before the world shut down. We discussed who we could trust to bring this vision to life for us. Our choice was unanimous… Farhan and Ritesh, Zoya and Reema. We had all worked with @excelmovies and @tigerbabyfilms individually so this seemed perfect. It just so happened that Farhan was working on a female road trip movie at the same time! Talk about all the stars aligning!! And here we are today… #JeeLeZaraa… It only took 3 years to align all our schedules. We stuck together and got it done! This one is to sisterhood… to friendship and to breaking the mould!! Can’t wait to get on the road with Aloo and Katty. My heart’s smiling. See you at the movies,” she wrote.
