Mahima Chaudhary Urges for Breast Cancer Awareness through her Experiences

Mahima Chaudhry has been quite vocal about the awareness of breast cancer since she was diagnosed accidentally in 2022. Mahima shared her personal story on Young Women Breast Cancer Conference 2025, alerting everyone about the disease. She was diagnosed accidentally during her routine yearly health check-up. She urges every woman to get tested regularly. Early diagnosis can ensure fast treatment.

Reflecting on the moment she found out, Mahima said, “There were no symptoms. I didn’t go in for a breast cancer screening it was a yearly check-up. I had no clue I had breast cancer. Cancer is something that you can’t recognise on your own early. It can only be detected early through tests. By going in for a yearly check-up, you can detect it early. This allows you to seek early treatment.”

The shock of diagnosis came completely out of the blue. In speaking publicly now, Mahima wants her story to empower others: women don’t always feel “ill” when cancer strikes. As she put it, no symptoms mean you can’t rely on how you feel — you must act. Early detection, she believes, is the strongest weapon.

Drastic change in treatment since 2022

She observed how treatment in India has also changed dramatically since her diagnosis. She said, “Since my diagnosis three to four years ago, there has been a huge difference in cancer treatment in India. There have been significant changes in cancer treatment in India. Many generic medicines are much cheaper now. You get better support from pharmaceutical companies. There’s much more awareness of cancer. I got a lot of motivation by hearing the stories of other people fighting strongly against cancer.”

Her latest film, The Signature, and upcoming Durlabh Prasad Ki Doosri Shaadi may mark a return to the screen. However, her message is clear. Health comes first, and awareness can save lives.

Mahima Chaudhry started her film career with the hit movie Pardes (1997). She went on to act in popular films like Daag: The Fire, Dhadkan, Lajja, and Baghban. She later appeared in movies such as Dobara and Dark Chocolate. After a break, she returned to the screen with The Signature. She will be seen next in Durlabh Prasad Ki Doosri Shaadi and Emergency.
