Railways to Run Special Unreserved Train for MahaKumbh Pilgrims

Railways to ease congestion and offer affordable travel options to pilgrims.

The Indian Railways has announced a special unreserved train between New Delhi and Patna Junction. This is to accommodate the massive influx of passengers traveling for the Maha Kumbh Mela. This move comes as part of the Railways’ efforts to ease congestion and offer affordable travel options to pilgrims.

According to the schedule, Train No. 04036 (New Delhi–Patna Junction Unreserved Special) will leave from New Delhi at 17:00 hrs on February 18, 2025. The train will pass through key stations, including Ghaziabad, Moradabad, Bareilly, Lucknow, Raebareli Junction, Phaphamau Junction, Varanasi Junction, and Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction, before reaching Patna.

The Maha Kumbh Mela is held once every 12 years. It draws millions of devotees and tourists from across the country and the world. With so many travelers, railway stations near Prayagraj and Varanasi are likely to see unprecedented traffic. Other major religious sites will experience the same. The introduction of unreserved special trains will help reduce crowding in regular trains. They will offer an extra travel choice for devotees.

Railway authorities have stated that more special trains will be introduced in the coming weeks, depending on passenger demand. Pilgrims are advised to check schedules, travel advisories, and safety protocols before planning their journey.

The Maha Kumbh is one of the world’s largest religious gatherings. The Railways’ decision to run extra trains is a crucial step. This helps in managing passenger movement efficiently. This initiative is expected to ease travel challenges for devotees and guarantee a smoother experience for all.
