Delhi Police Arrest 24 Bangladeshi Nationals for Illegal Residency

New Delhi: In a major operation, Delhi Police have arrested 24 Bangladeshi nationals. They were detained from various parts of the city for illegally residing in India. The arrests took place in South East and South Delhi on Wednesday. This was part of an ongoing crackdown on illegal immigration.

According to officials, 13 individuals were apprehended in the South District, while 11 were detained in the South East District. Several documents were recovered during the operation. Authorities are now verifying the credentials of more than ten other individuals in these areas.

In a separate action, five more Bangladeshi nationals were arrested from different parts of the city on Tuesday. Among them, two were picked up from the Sadar Bazar area. The remaining three were detained from the outer district. Police revealed that these individuals had been living in the country illegally and had also managed to obtain forged documents. The crackdown is still ongoing.

Earlier on March 8, Delhi Police conducted a verification drive. They targeted illegal immigrants in Vasant Kunj’s Jai Hindi Camp area. During the process, officers carried out identity checks. They sent the IDs of individuals found with suspicious documents for further verification.

This intensified drive follows directives issued in January by Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor. He had instructed the police to take stricter measures against illegal immigration. Officials held a high-level meeting. They decided to scale up efforts to identify and deport Bangladeshi nationals staying illegally. As part of this initiative, authorities are also running an outreach program through print and social media. They are urging citizens to verify the backgrounds of employees. This includes domestic workers and construction laborers to enhance security.

The Delhi Police continue to monitor and take action against unauthorized residents, ensuring compliance with legal immigration processes.
