Government Moves to Realize Prime Minister Modi’s Promise of a Clean Yamuna
The Ministry of Jal Shakti has taken a decisive step forward. It has finalized the “Yamuna Master Plan.” This comprehensive blueprint is aimed at rejuvenating the sacred river and its surroundings. Over the past few weeks, the ministry held two to three high-level meetings. They discussed and refined the plan’s details.
The Master Plan has been developed after extensive consultations with experts in water management and environmental restoration. Top specialists contributed their insights to ensure the project adopts best practices. These specialists also offered innovative solutions. Their expertise was previously sought during the successful development of the Sabarmati Riverfront. A ministry official explained, “Expert opinions have played a vital role in shaping the project.” The official emphasized that the plan is built on solid, research-backed recommendations.
The Yamuna Master Plan focuses on cleaning the river. It also aims to develop its banks into vibrant public spaces. The initiative aims to create a multi-functional environment where recreational, cultural, and economic activities can thrive alongside environmental restoration. With the finalized plan in hand, the government is set to present it to Prime Minister Modi for final approval.
Once approved, the project will be launched on a mission mode, with a clear timeline for achieving its objectives. The initiative aims to mobilize resources and coordinate efforts among various central and state agencies. This underscores the government’s commitment to sustainable development. It also highlights environmental rejuvenation. The Yamuna cleaning mission is seen as a landmark project. It will honor the promise made by the Prime Minister. It will also secure a cleaner, healthier future for millions of citizens who depend on the river.
