Tan defended himself. He stated, “Always operated within the highest legal and ethical standards.” He dismissed his role in Chinese Investments as Fake or “misinformation.”

Tan’s alleged role in Chinese led tech investments

Republican senator Tom Cotton asked Intel’s Board a few questions. He was concerned about the Tan’s ties to China. He inquired about Tan’s role in investments in Chinese semi-conductor companies and alleged connections with the Chinese military.

Cotton remarked- “Tan’s associations raise questions about Intel’s ability to fulfil these obligations. They question whether Intel can be a responsible steward of American taxpayer dollars. Concerns also arise about Intel’s capability to follow security regulations.

He raised concerns about his past leadership role in Cadence Design system inc. The company pleaded guilty in July for violating US exports control. They sold hardware and software to China’s National university of Defence technology.

Tan’s addresses the claims as “Misinformation”

Tan addresses the controversy clarifying his role in previous cadence Design system inc. and Walden international. He told Intel employees “There has been a lot of misinformation circulating. It concerns my past roles at Walden International and cadence design systems.”

While defending his four-decade career he mentioned “United states has been my home for more than 40 years. I love this country, and I am profoundly grateful for the opportunities It has given me”.

However, on Wednesday, the Intel company stated, “Intel and Mr. Tan are deeply committed to the national security of the United States. They are also dedicated to the integrity of our role in the U.S. defense ecosystem”.

Alleged role in companies in question

Tan had investments of $200 million in several big and small Chinese companies. Walden school had direct ownership with the Chinese government.

Tan wrote “we are engaging with the administration to address these matters. We aim to ensure they have the facts”.
