Parul Dhadwal created history, became the 5th generation military officer of her family
Parul’s commissioning was a remarkable moment for the Dhadwal family, where heritage and modernity meet. Parul secured first position in her course and won the President’s Gold Medal, which reflects her hard work and excellence.
Lieutenant Parul Dhadwal of Janauri village in Hoshiarpur district of Punjab has created history. She is the fifth generation of her family to be commissioned in the army. This family is famous for its military tradition. Parul Dhadwal has become the first female military officer from the family. She got commissioned in the Ordnance Corps of the Indian Army. She passed out from the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai on 6 September 2025.

Parul secured first position in her course and won the President’s Gold Medal, which reflects her hard work and excellence. Parul’s family has been serving the Army for five generations. Her great grandfather Subedar Harnam Singh served in the 74th Punjabi Regiment from 1896 to 1924. Her grandfather Major LS Dhadwal was in the 3 Jat Regiment.
In the third generation, Colonel Dalbir Singh Dhadwal served the country with the 7 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles. Brigadier Jagat Jamwal also served in the 3 Kumaon. This tradition continues with their father Major General KS Dhadwal (Seva Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal) and brother Captain Dhananjay Dhadwal. Both are currently in the 20 Sikh Regiment. This rare example features three serving military officers from two generations of the same family. It shows their unwavering loyalty to the country.
Air Chief Marshal A P Singh, CAS reviewed the Passing Out Parade. The parade was for SSC-120, SSC (W)- 34 and equivalent courses at #OTA, Chennai. The POP was a grand spectacle of impressive turnout & immaculate drill, showcasing high level of training, pride & coordination. On this momentous occasion, 155 Officer Cadets (including 25 Women) were commissioned in the IndianArmy. In addition, 21 Officer Cadets (including 12 Women) from Friendly Foreign Countries successfully completed their training. This accomplishment fostered bonds of camaraderie. It also promoted cooperation across international borders. CAS complimented the passing out cadets. He congratulated the proud parents. He highlighted the singular honour of serving in the armed forces.
