Indian Navy Conducts Live-Fire Drills Near Pakistani Naval Exercise Zone

The Indian Navy has issued four “green notifications.” These notifications designate specific maritime zones for live missile firings between April 30 and May 3, 2025. These notifications are a standard maritime protocol. They are intended to warn civilian and commercial traffic. The goal is to have them avoid the designated areas during live-fire events.

Missile Launches Conducted to Test Combat Readiness

According to official sources, Indian Navy warships have successfully executed several anti-ship missile firings in recent days. The drills include launches of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile. These launches target simulated enemy vessels. This is done to assess strike accuracy and readiness in combat conditions.

Proximity to Pakistani Naval Drills Raises Strategic Significance

The firing zones lie just 85 nautical miles from areas where Pakistan is currently carrying out its naval exercises. Pakistan has issued multiple firing notifications over the past week. However, it has yet to follow through with any actual missile launches, according to defence sources. Indian naval units are said to be monitoring Pakistani activities closely.

This latest round of naval drills unfolds amid increased military vigilance following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam. The Indian government has adopted a firm stance.
