Twice in two months, Indian comedian Kapil Sharma’s Kap’s cafe in Canada was shot this Thursday morning. Local residents called police around 4:30 A.M hearing the gunshots, responding to the call several police units arrived at the scene.
Goldy Dhillon of Lawrence Bishnoi gang took the responsibility for the attack.
In a Facebook post the gang mentioned- “ JAI SHRI RAM, Satshriakal ram sare bhaiyo ko aj jo y kapil sharma k kaps cafe..Surrey m firing hui iski jimevari, Goldy dhillon, Lawrence bishnoi gang lete h isko hamne call ki thi isko ring nhi Sunai di to karwai krni pdi ab b ring n sunegi to next karwai jaldi hi Mumbai krege” the post read.
Roughly translating, the attack that happened on Kap’s cafe in Surrey was done by Goldy Dhillon, Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The gang called Kapil Sharma but he didn’t respond, resultantly they took the action. If he still ignores the calls next action will be taken in Mumbai.
Second Incident of Gun Shots in Two Months
The first incident of gunshots happened on 10 July. Authorities believed it was perpetrated by Laddi gang. This gang is linked to the banned Khalistani terrorist outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).

Post attack, Kapil Sharma and his wife Ginni appeared in a collaborative video. The couple thanked the Surrey officials for their visit to Kap’s cafe. This visit reinforced trust. “Thank you Mayor Brenda Locke, @surreypoliceservice and all the officials who visited @thekapscafe_ to show their love and support. United we stand against violence. We’re truly grateful,” the comedian wrote.
Second attack in row was perpetrated by Lawrence Bishnoi gang This Thursday on August,7. At least 25 gunshots were heard. Kap’s Cafe had recently been inaugurated in Surrey of Canada as Sharma’s first international restaurant venture.
Similar attacks
Similar attacks occurred in the past. They were perpetrated on the property of famous Indian Punjabi singer Karan Aujla in Surrey in 2019.
Similar gunshots on the residence of Famous Punjabi singer Gippy Grewal had been reported in Vancouver in 2023.
