Vivek Agnihotri’s much awaited and controversial film ‘The Bengal Files’ has been released across the country today. There has been a controversy about this film for a long time. According to Vivek Agnihotri’s claims, he has done a lot of research for the film. This film depicts the situation of Bengal during the partition of India in 1947.
This film, full of violence and carnage, is based on the massacre of Hindus in Bengal. Vivek Agnihotri claims to bring the reality of Bengal to the country in the last part of his trilogy film. He has shown through his film how Jinnah wanted to divide the country even before the partition. ‘The Bengal Files’ brilliantly depicts on screen the open barbarity against Hindus in Kolkata and Bengal.
In West Bengal, there is a tussle. Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri is in conflict with the state government over the release of ‘The Bengal Files’. During the trailer release of the film, multiplexes refused to release it at the last moment. Consequently, the director released the trailer in a hotel instead of theatres.
Now, during the film’s release, no multiplex in West Bengal is ready to screen the filmmaker’s ‘The Bengal Files’. The film has been released in theatres across the country. However, it is not available on Book My Show in West Bengal. This clearly means that the film has not been released in multiplexes. Talking about the other film ‘Baaghi 4’ releasing today, tickets for the film are available in Kolkata. Meanwhile, director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri has raised questions on Mamata Banerjee. He has appealed that she should allow this film to be released in Bengal.

Efforts are being made to ban the film. Many baseless FIRs have been registered against him.
The Bengal Files producer and actress Pallavi Joshi has written to President Draupadi Murmu. She did this amid the uproar over the film. Pallavi shared the letter on Instagram. She captioned it, ‘Urgent Appeal Your Honor, @presidentofindia, As the producer of #TheBengalFiles, I am saddened. Multiplex chains in Bengal have refused to release the film due to political pressure and threats from the ruling party. I pray for your intervention to protect my constitutional rights and ensure its release in Bengal.’
