Mood of the Nation Survey: Modi Leads, While Rahul Gandhi Gains Popularity
The Voter Mood of the Nation (MOTN) survey report has been released. PM Modi remains the top choice for the Post of the PM. He is preferred by the majority in our nation.
Approximately 52% respondents in the survey mentioned Modi as the most preferable choice. While only 24% to 25% of the respondents favoured Rahul Gandhi for the PM post.
In August 2025 PM Modi approval stands for 51.5%, while Rahul Gandhi trailed with 24.7%. Modi’s popularity has declined according to past surveys. However, he still leads clearly amongst his rivals.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah topped the list with 28% support. This was when asked about the most suitable Prime Ministerial candidate after Narendra Modi. He was followed closely by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath with 26%. Meanwhile, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari secured just 7% backing.
This indicates that within the BJP, the public largely views Shah and Yogi as the strongest successors to Modi. Both are emerging as leading faces for future leadership.
The recent survey showcased that though Rahul Gandhi has improved his ratings in the popularity of being leader. In the survey, 28% rated him “Very Good” as PM. Another 22% rated him in the category of “Good”, making it a total of 50%. The score clearly showcased the Improved scenario.
But still his credibility for the position of PM remains debated. To become popular for the PM’s position, he needs to cover some distance quickly. It remains a big challenge for him.
The survey also reflects that while Modi personally retains popularity, the overall image of the NDA government has weakened slightly. Public satisfaction with governance, especially in terms of the economy and development, has seen a dip.
Analysts believe this creates potential openings for the opposition ahead of the next Lok Sabha elections.
