Security concerns intensify after Pahalgam attack condemnation

Gautam Gambhir is a former Member of Parliament. He is also the current head coach of the Indian national cricket team. He has reportedly received a death threat from the terrorist organization ‘ISIS Kashmir’. The threat followed Gambhir’s vocal condemnation of the recent Pahalgam terror attack.
The former cricketer approached the Delhi Police on Wednesday to lodge a formal complaint. He has requested an official FIR and heightened security for himself and his family, citing serious safety concerns.
Social Media Statement Sparks Threat
Gambhir had strongly denounced the April 22 terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam. In the attack, 26 civilians were killed, including a Nepali national. Gambhir took to social media. He expressed his grief and rage. He stated, “Prayers for the families of those who lost their lives. The ones responsible will not be spared — India will strike back.”
His message, widely circulated and praised online, may have triggered the hostile response from the militant outfit.
Attack in Pahalgam Claims 28 Lives
The brutal assault in Pahalgam has been linked to The Resistance Front (TRF). This is a proxy group of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba. They have claimed responsibility for the attack. Despite mounting evidence and widespread international condemnation, Pakistan continues to deny any involvement. Its Defense Minister, Khawaja Asif, recently stated that Islamabad has no connection with the incident.
Meanwhile, security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have launched an intensive manhunt to track down the attackers. According to officials, numerous individuals have been detained for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.
High Alert Across Delhi and NCR
Following the threat, security has been tightened around Gambhir’s residence and key locations in the capital. Authorities are also examining the source and authenticity of the message received from the alleged terror group.
