Attack Targets Pakistani Army Convoy
The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility. They took credit for a fatal attack on a Pakistani military convoy in the Harboi region of Kalat. BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch released a statement. The group referred to the strike as part of its continued resistance. They describe this as resistance against Pakistan’s occupation of Balochistan.
Details of the IED Attack
The BLA reported that its fighters executed a remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED) attack on Tuesday. They targeted a military vehicle in the convoy. The explosion reportedly killed five Pakistani soldiers on the spot and left three others severely injured, including a Major. The group also claimed that the vehicle was completely destroyed in the blast.
Military Movements and Claimed Retreat
The BLA alleged that the Pakistani army had been attempting to advance into the Harboi region. Their efforts also extended to nearby areas since March 24, 2025. However, they claim the success of their ambush forced Pakistani forces to pull back the following day.
Recent Surge in BLA Operations
This attack is the third major operation claimed by the BLA in recent weeks. On March 10, the group hijacked the Jaffer Express train. They alleged that they killed over 100 people. Both security personnel and civilians were among the casualties. Just last week, the BLA claimed another attack on a Pakistan Army convoy in the Noshki region.
No Official Confirmation Yet
Independent verification of the casualties or the alleged military withdrawal in Kalat has not yet been possible. Pakistani military authorities have not released an official statement regarding the incident. The attack highlights the ongoing insurgency in Balochistan. Separatist groups like the BLA continue to challenge Pakistani security forces through frequent assaults.
