Five Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Robbery, Assault, and Kidnapping of Army Officers and Women near Mhow
The Mhow Fast Track court has sentenced five people to life imprisonment. Their crimes include robbery, sexual assault, and kidnapping. The victims were two Army officers and their female friends.
The incident was reported in September last year. Five people committed the crime against two army officers and their two female friends. The case was registered against them on charges of serious crimes. These charges include robbery, assault, and kidnapping. Other charges are criminal conspiracy, sexual violence, and illegal possession of arms.
The incident took place on September 11 last year at the Mhow-Mandeshwar road. The incident was widely reported across the country. Additional Sessions Judge Ravi Shankar Doole sentenced Anil Barod (27) to life imprisonment. Pawan Vasuniya (23) also received a life sentence. Ritesh Bhabhar (25) was sentenced to life imprisonment as well. Rohit Girwal (23) and Sachin Makwana (25) were given the same sentence. Special Public Prosecutor Sandhya Uike gave this information. The court also ordered the accused to pay Rs 50,000 to the victim. They must also pay Rs 10,000 to the other three victims. Uike said the sixth accused is a minor and his case is going on in the juvenile court.
Uike said that two army officers who were doing a course at the infantry school Mhow had gone to Jam Gate with their two female friends. Six men pointed pistols at them and attacked them. They demanded Rs 10 lakh and threatened to kill them if they did not pay the money. They looted the mobile phones and cash. While one trainee officer and a female friend were asked to go to the infantry school and bring money the other trainee officer and a female friend were held hostage. Ritesh Bhabhar and Anil Barod sexually assaulted the lady.
The next day, a case was registered at the Bargonda police station. The final report was submitted in the court on October 12. Uike said the prosecution’s arguments began on October 26. Statements from Defence witnesses were recorded on March 20 this year. The final arguments between the prosecution and the Defence ended on March 21. This was exactly five months and 12 days after the case was registered. The police took swift action in this case and arrested the accused. The court also heard the case quickly and sentenced the culprits in view of the seriousness of the case.

The police had registered a case against the accused under Sections **310(2), 126(2), 308(2), 70(1), 296, 115(2), 351(2) of the BNA Act and Section 25 of the Arms Act.
