Bengaluru, March 31, 2025. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has reported a provisional revenue of Rs 30,400 crore. This figure is unaudited. It is for the financial year ending March 31, 2025. This marks a slight increase from the Rs 30,381 crore recorded in the previous year.
Overcoming Production Delays
HAL faced setbacks in the delivery of Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) and Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH). Despite this, HAL managed to sustain its revenue. The delay in LCA deliveries was primarily due to engine shortages. ALH schedules were impacted by the grounding of the fleet following an accident in January 2025. However, the company accelerated deliveries of other products and services, helping maintain its overall performance, stated Dr. D.K. Sunil, Chairman and Managing Director of HAL.
Strengthening Infrastructure and Expanding Order Book
The past year saw HAL significantly expand its production capabilities. It set up additional assembly lines for the LCA and HTT-40. The company also enhanced aero-engine production capacity at its Koraput facility. The company’s order book saw substantial growth. It rose to Rs 1,84,000 crore from Rs 94,129 crore at the beginning of the fiscal year.
During FY 2024-25, HAL secured fresh manufacturing contracts worth Rs 1,02,000 crore. It also secured Repair and Overhaul (ROH) agreements valued at Rs 17,500 crore. One significant contract signed during the year was the supply of 156 LCH Prachand helicopters. These helicopters were delivered to the Ministry of Defence (MoD). This deal amounted to Rs 62,777 crore. It marked the largest-ever procurement from HAL by the MoD.
Key Achievements of the Year
Among its major accomplishments, HAL became the first Defence Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) to attain ‘Maharatna’ status. The company also secured contracts for:
- The supply of 12 additional Su-30 MKI fighter jets
- Mid-Life Upgrades (MLU) for 40 Do-228 aircraft
- The delivery of 240 AL31FP engines for the Su-30 MKI fleet
- Avionics modernization of an IL-78 aircraft
Impressively, HAL delivered the first AL31FP engine within just one month of signing the contract.
Outlook for FY 2025-26
Supply chain constraints are easing. There is a strong pipeline of new orders and enhanced production capabilities. HAL is well-positioned for a more robust operational and financial performance in the upcoming financial year.
