Integrated Force Capable Across All Domains
The Indian Navy functions as a unified, technologically advanced maritime force. It is capable of responding simultaneously to threats from air, surface, and sub-surface domains. According to Vice Admiral Pramod, this is achieved through seamless integration. Advanced sensors and data streams are connected via sophisticated Combat Management Systems (CMS). This fusion enables round-the-clock situational awareness across the maritime and aerial spectrum.
Persistent Surveillance and Targeting Capabilities
The Vice Admiral emphasized that the Navy has maintained uninterrupted surveillance over vast maritime spaces. The force uses layered sensor inputs to achieve real-time detection. They identify potential threats quickly. This allows for long-range engagement when required. This capability includes a comprehensive Fleet Air Defence architecture. It is designed to neutralize aerial threats such as drones, high-speed missiles, and fighter jets.
Carrier Battle Group Forms First Line of Defence
The Carrier Battle Group (CBG) is one of the key assets in India’s maritime defence posture. It has played a critical role during the current tensions. MiG-29K fighter jets were deployed aboard the aircraft carrier. Airborne Early Warning (AEW) helicopters complemented this deployment. Together, they established a powerful surveillance shield. “No hostile or suspicious aircraft could approach the CBG within several hundred kilometres,” the Admiral stated.
Post-Pahalgam Preparedness Enhanced
Following the terror attack in Pahalgam by Pakistan-sponsored militants, the Indian Navy rapidly validated its anti-missile and anti-aircraft capabilities. These drills were conducted in a challenging threat environment using cross-platform coordination, ensuring preparedness for future escalations.
Maritime Dominance Restricts Pakistani Air Operations
Vice Admiral Pramod revealed that the Indian Navy’s assertive deployment significantly curtailed Pakistani aerial movements. The powerful Carrier Battle Group operated without interference. It effectively forced Pakistani air elements to remain confined near the Makran coast. This confinement prevented any operational reach into strategic maritime areas.
Sea-Based Threats Neutralized with Precision
The Indian Navy has proven its capability to detect, track, and eliminate airborne platforms. These platforms pose a threat to its assets at sea. This technological and tactical advantage, the Vice Admiral noted, ensures complete freedom of operation for Indian naval units.

Vice Admiral Pramod summed up the Navy’s operational impact during Operation Sindoor. He delivered a resolute message. He stated, “The Indian Navy’s dominance ensured that, should we choose to act, we can strike at will.” This statement underscores India’s unwavering control over its maritime domain during the heightened military situation.
