Aamir Khan and Lokesh Kanagaraj Join Hands for Pan-world Superhero Movie

Nobody predicted a collaboration between star Tamil filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj and Bollywood icon Aamir Khan. This changed when the two began publicly speaking about each other. Now, in a recent statement, Lokesh confirmed his collaboration with Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan. They are working on a superhero movie. He called it “the biggest action movie ever.”

Director in-demand

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj has directed only 7 films so far. All of these films are Tamil. Despite this, he has become one of the most in-demand filmmakers. He will be making his Bollywood debut with Aamir Khan through this movie. But not much is known about this upcoming superhero movie, except that Aamir Khan will be in the lead role.

In a recent interview,  Lokesh revealed that he is engaged in a lot of projects. “‘Kaithi 2’ will be my next film. But before that I have committed to ‘Vikram 2’ with Kamal Sir. I also want to do ‘Leo 2’, ‘Master 2’. But I don’t know when I will get Vijay’s dates. I also have to make ‘Rolex’ with Surya Sir. All these projects have been discussed. I don’t know which film will start when. It all depends on the actors’ dates and my being free.”

Admiration for Aamir Khan

He said he will shoot the movie with Aamir Khan after ‘Kaithi 2’. Hyping up the movie, he said, “It will be a Hindi film. But not just for India, it will be for the whole world. Its idea is amazing. Aamir sir and I kept discussing it for three-four months. I was very impressed with his way of approaching the film. There is a huge difference between his and my films. But I think that our collaboration will bring a new genre. It can be called a superhero film. But it is certain that it will be the biggest action film. I had written this film a long time ago.”

Lokesh also talked about Aamir’s cameo in ‘Coolie’, adding that it was supposed to be a secret. “We did not want the world to know that Aamir Khan is also a part of ‘Coolie’. That is why we shot the film at a secret location. But whispers had started. One day Aamir sir called me and said – Lokesh, I cannot lie in front of the camera anymore. I have been talking to people about ‘Sitare Zameen Par’ since morning. Everyone is asking the same question. Can I tell the truth? Hearing this I said – please go ahead sir. This is not a world secret. I will talk to the production house.”

Perfectionist Kamal Haasan

Talking about Aamir, Lokesh mentioned how the superstar is similar to Kamal Haasan. He said both have a habit of perfecting the scene through multiple takes. If the director has a correction, so do they. “Both keep taking retakes until they are satisfied, even if I okay the shot. Aamir sir’s shooting in ‘Coolie’ lasted only 5-6 days. But he would always ask if I could give him one more shot for his satisfaction. And I would say yes because we loved watching him perform.”

 Kanagaraj’s ‘Coolie’ will be released in theatres on August 14 with Rajnikanth in the lead role. His movie with Aamir Khan will be inspired by the British comics ‘The Steel Claw’. The story will be about a person who loses his hand in an accident. Then with a prosthetic hand, he fights the evil forces of the world.
