Deepika Padukone Likely to Be Replaced in Kalki 2 Amid Reported On-Set Tensions
After her alleged removal from Spirit over remuneration disagreements, actor Deepika Padukone is reportedly facing another career setback. Reports suggest she may no longer be part of Kalki 2, starring Prabhas, due to conflicts during production.
According to Bollywood.mobi, Deepika’s request for shorter working hours came after the birth of her first child. This has led to friction with the production team of Kalki 2. Sources claim the filmmakers are now considering recasting her role. Neither the actor nor the studio has issued official confirmation.
This development comes on the heels of Deepika’s exit from Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Her departure was allegedly linked to contract disputes. The disputes were over extra pay for extended shoot days. She was unwilling to work beyond six hours per day.
A source quoted by Bollywood Hungama revealed, “The actress made demands to amend her contract. She did this through her agency. She was particularly concerned if shooting extended beyond 100 days.”

Without naming Padukone directly, Vanga addressed the issue on X (formerly Twitter), writing,
“You’ve disclosed the person that you are… putting down a younger actor and walking out on my story?”
He called out what he described as “dirty PR games” and questioned the actress’s commitment to the craft of filmmaking.
Following Deepika’s reported exit from Spirit, Triptii Dimri—who previously worked with Vanga in Animal—has been cast as the female lead. The actress shared her excitement on social media, thanking the director for trusting her with the project.
Currently, Deepika Padukone and the producers of Kalki 2 have not made any public comments about the speculation. However, the repeated reports of professional differences have stirred considerable buzz in the film industry.
