Orhan Awatramani, popularly known as Orry, has been booked by the Jammu and Kashmir Police. He and seven others are accused of allegedly consuming alcohol near the Vaishno Devi shrine. The case has sparked controversy because alcohol and non-vegetarian food are strictly prohibited in the area. It is considered one of Hinduism’s most sacred pilgrimage sites.
FIR Registered Against Eight Individuals
The state police have filed an FIR (No. 72/25) against eight individuals, including Orry, for allegedly violating regulations by consuming alcohol at a hotel in Katra.
The accused include:

– Parth Raina
– Ritick Singh
– Rashi Dutta
– Rakshita Bhogal
– Shagun Kohli
– Anastasila Arzamaskina (Russian national)
Violation of District Magistrate’s Order
The Cottage Suite area in Katra, where the alleged incident took place, is governed by strict rules. These rules prohibit alcohol and meat consumption due to its proximity to the Vaishno Devi temple. The accused have been charged with violating the District Magistrate’s directives and allegedly hurting religious sentiments.
Police Investigation Underway
A senior Reasi Police official informed that a special investigation team has been formed to probe the matter. The team is led by SP Katra, Dy SP Katra, and SHO Katra. Notices will be issued to all accused, requiring them to cooperate with the investigation.
SSP Reasi emphasized a zero-tolerance policy. Strict action would be taken against anyone violating the law. This is particularly focused on those engaging in prohibited activities near religious sites.
