Fresh Death Threat Issued Against Salman Khan; Mumbai Police Launch Probe
Mumbai, April 14 — Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has received a fresh death threat. This incident reignites security concerns just months after a previous attack outside his Bandra residence. The threat arrived as a message to the Mumbai Traffic Police’s WhatsApp helpline. It warned of a plot to assassinate the actor. It also mentioned planting a bomb in his car.
Official sources confirmed the message content. The attacker intended to enter Khan’s home and eliminate him. There was also a plan to detonate the vehicle. The actor lives with his family at Galaxy Apartments in Bandra. He has faced multiple threats over the past two years. This is a growing concern that has kept law enforcement on alert.
Mumbai Police have registered an FIR against unidentified individuals and launched an investigation into the source of the message. Authorities are working to trace the origin of the communication, which has once again placed Khan under heightened security.
This is the fifth reported threat to Khan’s life since 2022. Last year, gunshots were fired outside his residence, an incident allegedly linked to members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The gang’s animosity toward the actor stems from the long-standing blackbuck poaching case dating back to the 1990s. A court dismissed the charges against Khan. Nevertheless, Bishnoi has publicly demanded an apology in Rajasthan. He warned of consequences if the demand is not met.
In 2023, a separate assassination plot targeting Khan at his Panvel farmhouse was also foiled. Investigators had confirmed that members of the same gang had been surveilling the location.
The continuous stream of threats has become overwhelming. As a result, Mumbai Police assigned Y+ category security to the actor. This is one of the highest levels of protection granted by the government.
Meanwhile, Salman Khan was recently seen in Sikandar, directed by AR Murugadoss. Released during Eid, the action drama marked Murugadoss’s return to Bollywood. The film had a strong opening. However, its performance tapered off at the box office. Global earnings hovered around ₹200 crore, and domestic collections were at ₹109 crore. These numbers fell short of industry expectations for a Khan-led project.
