John Abraham Meets Jaishankar Ahead of The Diplomat Release
New Delhi: The film The Diplomat is set for release soon. Ahead of the film’s debut, actor John Abraham met with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Thursday. The film is set to hit theaters on Friday. It is inspired by a real-life incident. This incident involves one of Jaishankar’s former aides, senior diplomat JP Singh. JP Singh is currently India’s envoy to Israel.
The movie highlights Singh’s efforts in 2017 to rescue an Indian woman, Uzma Ahmad. She was deceived into traveling to Pakistan under false pretenses of marriage. Later, she sought help from Indian authorities to return home.
Jaishankar shared details of his meeting with Abraham on social media. He stated, “An interesting conversation with @TheJohnAbraham on his new movie The Diplomat. As also on football, the North East, and our respective worlds.”
In the film, Abraham plays a character inspired by Singh. During the incident, Singh was serving as the deputy high commissioner at the Indian mission in Islamabad.
