Their Marriage Can Endure 10 Affairs’, Nihalani Defends Govinda & Sunita’s Relationship

New reports about the divorce of actor Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja have emerged. Old remarks by film producer Pahlaj Nihalani have also resurfaced. Nihalani once remarked about the bond between Govinda and his wife Sunita in an interview. He mentioned it as an “unshakable” bond. He exclaimed that nobody can come between both the partners. The couple used to live separately, as reported. Rumours of their divorce after 37 years of marriage were spreading. However, it was later claimed that both partners have reconciled.

Pahlaj Nihalani Remarks on Couple’s Relationship

Nihalani collaborated with Govinda on several projects before their eventual fallout. He once insisted that the couple’s bond was unbreakable. It was strong no matter the circumstances. Nihalani had famously addressed long-standing whispers about Govinda’s alleged affairs. He said, “Listen, nobody can get in between Sunita and Govinda’s eternal love. Sunita speaks her mind, and Govinda never strays. Their marriage will survive even if he has 10 affairs,” he remarked.

He further added that the couple’s unconventional lifestyle often fuels speculation. “They’ve always lived separately. He always used to have his meetings in the other bungalow, because he sleeps late. She’s always with him otherwise. He doesn’t have a single film right now. He does shows daily. She handles his business matters,” Nihalani explained.

Nihalani remarked that he is no longer in regular contact with the couple. However, he mentioned his meet up with Govinda after his recent gunshot incidents. There, he referred to the couple as “the best of friends”. 

Sunita Ahuja mentioned of their living status in an Interview

Sunita Ahuja once in an Interview remarked that both the couple Govinda and Sunita herself lives in different apartments. But later she explained her stance in an interview. She said that due to Govinda’s different working schedule, they used to live in different places. They had bungalow opposite to their apartments and couples used to live in these locations differently. 

“We have two houses; we have a bungalow opposite our apartment. I have my temple and my kids in the flat. We live in the flat whereas he gets late after his meetings. He loves talking so he’ll gather 10 people and sit chatting with them. Whereas me, my son and my daughter live together.”, Sunita Ahuja remarked.

Recent Reports of Couple’s Divorce

As claimed, Sunita Ahuja recently filed for divorce with her spouse Govinda in Bandra family court in December 2024. The grounds cited were adultery, cruelty, and desertion under the Hindu Marriage Act. However, it was later claimed that the couple had reconciled and were back together.

Govinda’s manager Shashi Sinha also remarked on the tensions existing between couples. He marked Sunita’s outspoken nature as the cause of the tensions. “Sunita ji ne jo recent interviews mein baatein boli hain, yeh unn sab ka nateeja hai. Unhone zyaada bol diya hai (She said too much in recent interviews, this is the result). And you know Govinda sir… there is friction,” he mentioned.
