What will be the key focus of newly formed government in Delhi?
The BJP secured a decisive victory in the recently concluded elections. They are set to form the government after over a decade in opposition. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will return from his foreign visit soon. After his return, BJP observers will gather a meeting of the party’s elected MLAs. They will select the Chief Minister, said newly elected Rajouri Garden MLA and BJP national secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa.
The swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected BJP government in Delhi is to take place on February 19. It may also happen on February 20. The new administration will focus on clean drinking water. It will also focus on improved civic infrastructure and pollution control. This information was shared by party leaders.
“The new government will start working around February 19-20,” Sirsa stated. He added that he anticipates the BJP Legislature Party meeting to take place by February 18-19. This will pave the way for the government formation by February 20.
No CM Race, Says BJP MLAs
Despite media speculation about potential Chief Minister candidates, BJP MLAs dismissed any internal competition for the post. “There is no race for the post of Delhi CM. In our party, the leader is chosen collectively by MLAs. Abhay Verma, the second-time MLA from Laxmi Nagar and a prominent Purvanchali leader, said this.
Several names are being discussed for the top post. These include Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Abhay Verma, and Mohan Singh Bisht. However, no official decision has been made. Bisht, a six-time MLA, confirmed that the new Chief Minister will be chosen from among the 48 BJP legislators.
Key Priorities for the First 100 Days
The incoming BJP government has outlined its top priorities, with a strong focus on:
• Clean drinking water supply across Delhi
• Improving sanitation and civic infrastructure
• Combating air pollution and cleaning the Yamuna River
• Implementing the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme, which was earlier stalled by the AAP government
The BJP MLAs reiterated that the first Cabinet meeting will approve the implementation of Ayushman Bharat in Delhi. This action fulfills Prime Minister Modi’s promise to the people of the city.
Sirsa also emphasized that the new government would set a 100-day target. This target aims to tackle major issues like pollution and sanitation. It includes the installation of sewage treatment plants (STPs) to prevent untreated sewage from flowing into the Yamuna River.
Proposal to Rename Mustafabad Sparks Debate
Mustafabad MLA Mohan Singh Bisht has renewed his proposal. He wants to rename the minority-dominated constituency to “Shiv Vihar” or “Shiv Puri.” He cites public sentiment in favor of the change. “The area has 58% Hindus and 42% minorities. The demand for renaming reflects the people’s wishes,” Bisht claimed.
As Delhi prepares for a new BJP-led administration, all eyes will be on who is chosen as the Chief Minister. People will also watch how quickly the party can fulfill its key promises.
