Following a recent Supreme Court order, anxiety has swept across the teaching community in India. More than 10 lakh government teachers now face job insecurity. Anand Kumar Pathak is the district president of the Uttar Pradesh Primary Teachers’ Association. He stated that if the order is applied to private schools, crores could be affected. The order could have a vast impact. The decision has spread sadness and concern among teachers nationwide.
Traditionally, Teachers’ Day is celebrated every year on September 5 with enthusiasm. However, this year’s sombre mood is reflected in plans for only minor gatherings and tributes in various government offices. The Association’s representatives expressed worry. Teachers who dedicate decades of their lives to public service now face the risk of losing their jobs. This is due to legal technicalities.
