Pune Man Caught Urinating in Public: Police Action

Pune, March 9, 2025 – A man was caught on camera urinating at a busy traffic junction in Pune. Police have detained him in neighboring Satara district. The incident occurred in the Shastrinagar area of Yerawada. It went viral after an eyewitness recorded the act. The eyewitness shared it on social media.

Following public outrage, Pune police took action. They registered a case against the accused. The accused is identified as Gaurav Ahuja. This was done under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act. His co-passenger, Bhagyesh Oswal, has also been booked. The charges include public nuisance, rash and negligent driving, and causing danger on public roads.

Authorities took action after the video sparked widespread criticism. Many questioned the increasing instances of reckless behavior by high-end car owners. “Such acts of public indecency and reckless driving will not be tolerated. Strict legal action will be taken,” a senior police official stated.

Before his detention, Ahuja released a video on social media apologizing for his actions. “Please give me one chance. I will surrender in the next eight hours,” he pleaded. However, the police tracked him down and took him into custody before the self-imposed deadline.

The incident has reignited discussions on road discipline and civic responsibility in urban areas. Authorities have urged citizens to report such behavior promptly, emphasizing that public spaces must be respected.

The Pune police have assured a thorough investigation into the case, and further legal action is expected.
