Senior Citizen Falls Sick as Mahagun Moderne Residents Protest Against AOA, Noida Authority

Noida: Residents of Mahagun Moderne society in Sector 78 staged a massive protest on Sunday. They protested against their Apartment Owners Association (AOA) and the Noida Authority. They demanded annual elections and better civic amenities. The demonstration has been ongoing for the past few weeks. It witnessed hundreds of residents marching through the complex with banners and slogans. Then they assembled at the society’s open theatre.

A tense moment arose when a senior citizen participating in the protest fell ill due to the prolonged agitation. Witnesses said the elderly man, who had been on a hunger strike, collapsed from exhaustion. He had to be rushed to the hospital. His condition is reportedly stable, but the incident highlighted the intensity of the residents’ frustration.

The protesters accused the AOA of obstructing elections for the past seven years. They claimed the AOA violated rules that mandate annual polls in housing societies. “It has been seven years since the last election. The AOA leadership is misusing maintenance funds. Despite orders from the deputy registrar and the SDM of Dadri, they refuse to conduct elections,” said a resident.

The residents also complained of deteriorating civic conditions. The poor drinking water quality has total dissolved solids (TDS) levels between 2500 and 3000. These levels far exceed safe limits. They alleged that ₹8 crore spent on repairs was mismanaged, resulting in worsening infrastructure, including falling balconies.

Some protesters expressed anger over the lack of support from BJP MP Mahesh Sharma. Residents of Mahagun Moderne claimed he ignored their plight. This was despite their repeated calls for intervention. The incident of the senior citizen falling ill has intensified the residents’ demand. They want immediate action and accountability from the authorities.
