Six Arrested for Espionage, Including Haryana-Based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra

New Delhi, May 17 – A significant espionage case has come to light involving a well-known travel blogger from Haryana. Jyoti Malhotra is a popular YouTuber with a large social media following. She has been arrested with five others. They are accused of spying for Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

Allegations of Espionage and Propaganda

Authorities report that Jyoti Malhotra came under the scanner. She runs the YouTube channel Travel with Joe. Evidence surfaced suggesting her involvement in sharing sensitive information with Pakistani operatives. She allegedly used her social media platforms to subtly promote anti-India narratives while maintaining close contact with ISI agents.

Links Formed During Pakistan Visit

Investigations reveal that Malhotra visited Pakistan in 2023 on a visa issued by the Pakistani High Commission. During her stay, she reportedly developed a close relationship with Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, an employee at the High Commission. Danish reportedly introduced her to other Pakistani intelligence agents. These individuals include Ali Ahsan and Shakir, also known as Rana Shahbaz. Notably, Malhotra had saved Shahbaz’s contact in her phone under the alias “Jatt Randhawa.”

Use of Encrypted Communication

Sources in the investigation confirmed that Malhotra communicated with these individuals. She used encrypted messaging platforms such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and Snapchat. Officials claim she shared sensitive data. She also used her online presence to portray Pakistan in a favorable light.

A Broader Network Exposed

Malhotra’s arrest is part of a broader crackdown. A total of six individuals have been detained so far across Haryana and Punjab. Authorities suggest this network was actively providing classified or sensitive information to foreign intelligence agencies. The case highlights growing concerns about digital influence and espionage activities using social media as a tool.

Alleged Foreign Travels and Links

Malhotra travelled to Indonesia, according to further revelations. She recently took a trip to Bali. She was accompanied by one of the accused Pakistani intelligence agents. It is believed that logistical arrangements for her trips to and from Pakistan were handled by Pakistani handlers.

Political Reaction and Ongoing Probe

This development has stirred political reactions, especially amid existing tensions over national security and foreign interference. Security agencies are investigating the extent of information leaked. More arrests are expected. Disclosures will likely occur in the coming days.

The case underscores the rising threat of cyber-espionage. Social media influencers can play a role in national security matters, whether unknowingly or knowingly.
