Tensions Rise: PM Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Hold Crucial Meeting Amidst Border Escalation

Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated dangerously following the brutal massacre of 26 Hindus in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. This situation has brought the two countries to the brink of conflict. In a significant development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held an important meeting with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. It took place at the Prime Minister’s residence at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg. The discussion between the two leaders lasted approximately 40 minutes.

Sources indicate that this high-level meeting is happening. India is formulating a strategy to respond strongly to Pakistan’s alleged role in the Pahalgam attack.

Notably, this is the second such meeting between the Prime Minister and the Defence Minister within a short span. Late Sunday night, Rajnath Singh had also conferred with PM Modi for about 45 minutes. Prior to that meeting, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan had met with Rajnath Singh. The Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF) held discussions. These were with senior officials at the Ministry of Home Affairs. These series of engagements have fueled speculation that India may be preparing to take decisive action against Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Pakistan continues to engage in provocative activities along the Line of Control (LoC). Pakistani forces reportedly opened fire in the Kupwara and Poonch sectors using small arms. The Indian Army responded effectively to this.

Adding to the tension, reports suggest that panic is spreading within Pakistan’s political circles. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is the chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party. He has reportedly sent his family abroad amid fears of Indian retaliation. Sources indicate they have relocated to Canada. Earlier, Pakistan’s army chief General Asim Munir was also said to have moved his family out of the country.

The situation remains tense. India’s leadership is evaluating the next steps. Meanwhile, the armed forces stay on high alert across sensitive regions.
