Tragic Accident in Pune: 12-Year-Old Boy Dies After Flowerpot Falls from High-Rise Balcony

A heart-wrenching incident took place at Blue City Apartments near Sarthana Jakat Naka. A 12-year-old boy lost his life. He was struck by a falling flowerpot. The boy was playing below the building. A flowerpot, placed on a high-rise balcony ledge, accidentally fell. It hit him on the head, leading to fatal injuries.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as shocking and devastating. Emergency services were immediately called to the spot. Despite efforts to save him, the boy died at the hospital.

The tragedy has sparked serious concerns among residents about the safety practices in high-rise buildings. In response to the incident, the apartment association has issued an urgent appeal to all residents:

  • Avoid placing stones, heavy pots, or unsecured items on balconies or terrace edges.
  • Remove existing pots and heavy items voluntarily to prevent similar accidents.
  • Increase awareness and safety checks within the society.

“This loss is irreplaceable. We must ensure no other family goes through such grief,” said a resident of Blue City Apartments.

Authorities have urged housing societies across the city to conduct safety audits. They want to educate residents about the dangers of unsecured objects in high-rise living spaces.

The police have registered a case and are conducting an investigation to determine if negligence charges need to be filed.

This heartbreaking accident serves as a grim reminder for all high-rise residents: small mistakes can lead to irreversible tragedies. Ensuring balcony and terrace safety is not just a personal responsibility but a communal one.
