Who Will Be Bihar’s Next Chief Minister? C-Voter Survey Reveals Surprising Trends

Bihar’s assembly elections are approaching later this year. Discussions are heating up about who will take over as the next Chief Minister. A recent C-Voter survey has shed light on public opinion, bringing some unexpected insights.

Declining Support for Nitish Kumar, Rising Popularity for Tejashwi Yadav

According to the survey, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s popularity has seen a significant decline. Meanwhile, former Deputy CM and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav’s support has surged. The data indicates that 41% of respondents favor Tejashwi Yadav as Bihar’s next CM. Only 18% support Nitish Kumar retaining his position.

The survey also included opinions on Prashant Kishor, BJP leader Samrat Chaudhary, and Union Minister Chirag Paswan.

Prashant Kishor Gaining Ground

The poll results indicate that 15% of people prefer Jan Suraj founder Prashant Kishor for the role of CM. This positions him ahead of BJP’s Samrat Chaudhary, who garnered only 8% support. Meanwhile, Chirag Paswan received 4% of the votes, showing relatively lower backing from the public.

Growing Discontent with the Current Government

The survey also highlights dissatisfaction with the Nitish Kumar-led government. Around 50% of respondents expressed anger toward the administration. Meanwhile, 22% acknowledged their discontent. However, they did not advocate for a change. On the other hand, 25% remained neutral, neither opposing nor supporting the government’s continuation.

Key Election Issues in Bihar

Unemployment has emerged as the most pressing concern for voters. 45% of respondents identified it as their top priority, followed by 11% citing inflation. Issues related to infrastructure were a priority for 10%. This includes electricity, water, and roads. Meanwhile, only 4% focused on agriculture and corruption.

RJD’s Performance in the Last Election

In the previous Bihar assembly elections, RJD secured 75 seats. It became the largest party. Meanwhile, BJP followed closely with 74 seats. JD(U) won 43 seats, whereas Chirag Paswan’s LJP-R failed to secure a single seat.

With shifting public sentiment and emerging leaders gaining traction, Bihar’s upcoming elections are set to be highly competitive.
