Canada Expresses Interest in Collaboration
The initiative may not remain an exclusively American venture. Canada has reportedly shown interest in participating in the Golden Dome project. Former Canadian Defence Minister Bill Blair acknowledged discussions with the U.S. and expressed support for joining the initiative, citing growing concerns about threats in the Arctic and beyond.

The Golden Dome draws conceptual inspiration from Israel’s Iron Dome. This system is lauded for its success in intercepting short-range rockets. However, the Golden Dome is envisioned on a much larger scale. The American version is expected to counter a broader range of threats. This includes hypersonic missiles and Fractional Orbital Bombardment Systems (FOBS). These systems can launch attacks from orbit.
Trump claimed that the Golden Dome’s success rate could approach 100%. It has the capability to intercept projectiles during launch, mid-flight, or final descent. The system would reportedly respond faster than the speed of sound and adapt dynamically to evolving threats.
A Centralized Command for Complex Threats
Defense documents suggest that the Golden Dome will operate with a centralized command structure. It will coordinate land-based interceptors, naval defenses, and space-based sensors. This integration ensures a rapid and efficient response to incoming attacks.
The first phase of funding is expected to come from a proposed legislative package. Trump referred to it as “One Big Beautiful Bill.” However, the bill remains pending in Congress.

U.S. defense officials and intelligence agencies warn that the threat landscape is becoming increasingly dangerous. Rivals are actively working to exploit gaps in current American missile defenses.
