A Bangladesh Air Force base in Cox’s Bazar was attacked by unidentified miscreants from the nearby Samiti Para area on February 24, according to reports from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The sudden attack led to a confrontation, prompting the Bangladesh Air Force to take countermeasures to secure the area.
Local authorities confirmed that one person was killed, and several others were injured in the incident. Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin stated that an investigation would be conducted to determine the cause of the clash and appropriate action would be taken.
Medical sources reported that the deceased, identified as 30-year-old local trader Shihab Kabir, sustained gunshot injuries during the confrontation. The incident occurred around noon, and he was later pronounced dead at Cox’s Bazar District Sadar Hospital.
Following the violence, the Bangladesh Army was deployed to bring the situation under control. Army officers are currently engaged in discussions with agitated locals who have been protesting after the death of the youth in the firing. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely to prevent further escalation
