US President Donald Trump claimed that the United States had taken “complete and total control of the skies over Iran.” He further warned Iran’s Ayatollah Khamenei saying that “We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding. He is an easy target, but is safe there – We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now. But we don’t want missiles shot at civilians, or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
Tensions between Israel and Iran have escalated sharply. They have turned into open warfare since Friday, June 13, 2025. This marks an unprecedented period of direct military confrontation. Israel initiated a major campaign of fighter jet and drone strikes across Iran. They targeted nuclear and military sites. The attacks included surface-to-surface missile production facilities, detection radar sites, and surface-to-air missile launchers. Reports indicate strikes on residential areas and fuel depots. Iran’s health ministry reports at least 224 fatalities. There are over 1,200 injuries, mostly civilians. Israeli forces have also reportedly killed several top Iranian military commanders and atomic scientists. The IDF claims to have destroyed one-third of Iran’s surface-to-surface missile launchers. They have achieved “full air superiority over Tehran.” They also struck an Iranian refueling aircraft 2,300 km away.
Iran Stikes Back
In retaliation, Tehran has launched barrages of missiles and drones. They have hit Israeli cities and towns. The attacks have caused at least 24 deaths and 592 injuries. A major oil refinery in Haifa was among the targets. The IDF confirmed intercepting over 100 Iranian UAVs.
The international community, including China, Turkey, and G7 leaders, has urgently called for de-escalation, but both sides remain defiant. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asserts the offensive aims to thwart “existential” nuclear and missile threats. He has not ruled out targeting Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, suggesting it would “end the conflict.” The UN’s IAEA reported physical damage to an above-ground component of Iran’s Natanz uranium enrichment facility. External radiation levels remained normal. The IAEA warned of potential internal contamination. Amidst the crisis, planned nuclear negotiations between Tehran and Washington were called off.
Israel ready to hit Arak heavy water reactor
Israel’s military also issued a warning for people to leave the area around Iran’s Arak heavy water reactor. The warning was posted on social media platform X. It included a satellite image of the plant marked with a red circle. This is similar to other warnings that have come before earlier strikes.

US moves military assets in Middle East vulnerable to Iranian attack
The United States military has relocated certain aircraft and vessels from Middle Eastern bases. These bases could be susceptible to potential Iranian strikes. This information comes from two anonymous US officials.
The officials confirmed this repositioning as a protective measure for US forces. However, they withheld specific details about the quantity of assets moved. They did not disclose their new locations.
One official disclosed that naval vessels were withdrawn from Bahrain’s port, which is the home of the 5th fleet. Aircraft stationed at Qatar’s Al Udeid Air Base, which weren’t in reinforced shelters, were also relocated.
“It is not an uncommon practice. Force protection is the priority,” the official states.
Reuters initially reported the substantial movement of tanker aircraft to Europe. Additional military resources were moved to the Middle East this week. This includes enhanced fighter jet deployment. Additionally, an aircraft carrier previously stationed in the Indo-Pacific region is now heading towards the Middle East.
These developments occur while President Donald Trump maintains uncertainty about US participation in Israel’s offensive. The offensive targets Iranian nuclear and missile facilities. Meanwhile, Tehran’s residents continue departing the capital. This is during the sixth day of aerial operations.
