An Indian Army contingent has departed for Fort Wainwright, Alaska, USA. They will participate in the 21st edition of the India–USA Joint Military Exercise Yudh Abhyas 2025. The exercise is scheduled from 1st to 14th September 2025.

The Indian contingent includes personnel from a battalion of the Madras Regiment. They will train alongside soldiers from the 1st Battalion. These soldiers are part of the 5th Infantry Regiment “Bobcats” of the Arctic Wolves Brigade Combat Team. This team belongs to the 11th Airborne Division of the USA.

Over two weeks, troops will rehearse a spectrum of tactical drills. These include heliborne operations and employment of surveillance resources and unmanned aerial systems. They will practice rock craft and mountain warfare. Other exercises are casualty evacuation and combat medical aid. The integrated use of Artillery, Aviation, and Electronic Warfare systems will also be part of the drills.
Subject-matter experts from both armies will conduct working groups. These groups will focus on critical domains like UAS and Counter-UAS operations. They will also cover information warfare, communications, and logistics.
The exercise will culminate in jointly planned and executed tactical manoeuvres. These will range from live-fire exercises to high-altitude warfare scenarios. The focus is on improving capabilities for United Nations peacekeeping operations. It also strengthens preparedness for multi-domain challenges.
