Bengaluru Road Rage Incident: DRDO Officer Assaulted, Wife Verbally Abused

Bengaluru, 21 April 2025 — A disturbing incident of road rage in Bengaluru has sparked widespread concern. A DRDO Wing Commander and his wife, a Squadron Leader, were allegedly attacked and abused by a motorcyclist. The officer, Aditya Bose, shared the details through a video posted on social media. He showed his injuries and expressed frustration over the lack of swift action.

Violent Confrontation on the Way to the Airport

The altercation happened on April 18. The couple was traveling from the DRDO colony in CV Raman Nagar to the airport. Bose’s wife, Squadron Leader Madhumita, was driving. A biker reportedly began tailing them aggressively. The biker then overtook and blocked their path near Gopalan Mall.

According to the FIR lodged by Madhumita at the Baiyappanahalli Police Station, the motorcyclist was driving rashly. He then proceeded to kick their car and strike it with a stone. The situation escalated when the biker noticed the DRDO sticker on their vehicle.

Assault and Verbal Abuse with Regional Overtones

The attacker identified the vehicle as belonging to DRDO personnel. He allegedly shouted in Kannada, “This is Kannada land… just watch what I do.” Then he physically attacked the officer. Wing Commander Bose stepped out to de-escalate the situation but was instead met with violence. A key struck him on the forehead. Then, a stone hit him, leading to heavy bleeding from his head and neck.

In his video message, Bose claimed that some bystanders supported the attacker. The assailant even bit his finger during the scuffle. He also said that he lost his phone and keys amidst the chaos.

Emotional Testimony Goes Viral

Bose was visibly injured. He recorded and posted a video shortly after the incident. There was blood on his face and shirt. He expressed both shock and dismay. “They abused me, and they abused my wife. When they saw the DRDO sticker, they shouted, ‘You DRDO people!’ How can this happen in our country?” he said.

He added that his wife’s quick thinking and calmness helped them reach the nearest police station. However, he voiced disappointment with the initial police response, stating that he felt ignored.

Wife Files FIR, Police Respond

The officer had an urgent flight to Kolkata for his father’s medical treatment. He was initially unable to file a complaint. However, his wife ensured that legal action was initiated. Bengaluru Police confirmed that an FIR has been registered and the accused has been arrested.

Authorities stated, “We are verifying all aspects of the incident. The matter is under investigation, and we’re coordinating with the victim for further details.”

Military and Public Support Grows

The Indian Air Force (IAF) acknowledged the incident and assured full support to the officer. “This appears to be an unfortunate case of road rage. The officer is being treated, and we are in touch with civil authorities to ensure justice,” an IAF spokesperson said.

The video has since gone viral. It is drawing reactions from both the public and defence community. Many have condemned the attack. They have expressed concern over rising hostility toward service personnel in public spaces.

Call for Stronger Protection and Awareness

In his second video, recorded after receiving medical attention, Bose reiterated his hope that justice will prevail. However, he also issued a strong emotional appeal. He asked for strength to remain calm. He warned that law enforcement action was necessary. Without it, he might have to defend himself and his family in the future.

“This should never happen to any Indian in uniform, or to any citizen. It’s not about ego—it’s about dignity, and safety,” he said.
