INDIAN ARMY CONTINGENT DEPARTS FOR INDIA- KYRGYZSTAN JOINT SPECIAL FORCES EXERCISE KHANJAR-XII
The 12th edition of the India-Kyrgyzstan Joint Special Forces Exercise, KHANJAR-XII, is scheduled in Kyrgyzstan. It will take place from March 10 to March 23, 2025. Established in 2011, the exercise has become an annual training initiative. It alternates between India and Kyrgyzstan, highlighting the deepening strategic partnership between the two nations. The previous edition was conducted in India in January 2024.
Participants & Objectives
The exercise will bring together troops from the Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) of the Indian Army. It will also include troops from the Kyrgyz Scorpion Brigade. It aims to enhance cooperation in counter-terrorism and special operations, particularly in urban and high-altitude mountainous terrain.
Key focus areas include:
– Advanced Special Forces training such as sniping, building intervention tactics, and mountain warfare.
– Sharing best practices in counter-terrorism operations.
Cultural Exchange & Strengthening Ties
Apart from intense military drills, the exercise will also include cultural exchanges, with participants celebrating the Kyrgyz festival of Nowruz. These interactions will foster stronger ties and mutual understanding between the two nations.
Strategic Importance
This joint exercise will reinforce defence cooperation, helping both countries address common security challenges, including terrorism and extremism. It reflects the shared commitment of India and Kyrgyzstan to regional peace, stability, and security.
