Havildar Naresh Kumar is a serving NCO of the 10th Battalion the MAHAR Regiment. He has a story of immense courage. His tale also reflects selflessness and humanity.

On 08 Feb 2025, Late Master Arshdeep Singh, son of Havildar Naresh Kumar, met with a tragic road accident. He later succumbed to his injuries. In the face of unimaginable grief, he experienced the loss of his 18 year old son. He made a decision that turned his personal pain into hope for others.

Choosing to donate his son’s organs, he gave six critically ill patients a second chance at life. On 16 Feb 2025, he consented to donate liver, kidney, pancreas, and cornea. He ensured that legacy of Arshdeep would live on, not just in memory, but in the lives he saved. His kind act in the darkest moment of his life shows the power of love. It also demonstrates generosity.

On 16 Feb 2025, the liver and kidney were swiftly transported. They traveled via a green corridor to the Army Hospital Research and Referral in New Delhi. The kidney and pancreas went to a patient battling life-threatening Type 1 Diabetes with Chronic Kidney Disease at PGI. The corneas were preserved to restore sight to those in need. This life-saving effort was made possible through the skill of Command Hospital, Chandimandir, renowned for its excellence in organ retrieval.
