Indian Army Conducts Anti-Tank Drills Against Chinese Threat

Amid the negotiations with China over LAC, India is maintaining its combat readiness. Indian Army has launched a series of war drills in the North East. Indian Army’s Armored Regiment and Mechanized Infantry conducted a high power exercise at an altitude of 15,000 feet. The exercise aims to enhance the firepower against the adversary at extreme altitude and weather conditions. Indian Army stationed at Sikkim in the northeast. They have been conducting war games. These exercises aim to counter Chinese tanks in the Tibetan plateau. The Indian Army’s Eastern Command conducted the Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) field firing exercise. The exercise was conducted at Teesta Field and Firing Range.

The Eastern Command carried out a week-long firing at the Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) field at Teesta Field Firing Range. The exercise brought together the infantry and the mechanised infantry unit. The exercise demonstrated coordination, tactical rapport and proficiency on the war front. The drill tested the strength of all the ATGMs that the army had. Their targets were precisely targeted during the day and night to increase their firepower. The Mechanised Infantry also edged its impressive firepower by launching ATGMs from Infantry Combat Vehicles (ICVs).

Indian Army’s ATGM

The Indian Army is currently using the second-generation French ATGM Milan 2T (Milan-2T) and the Russian ATGM Konkurs. Their range is 4 kilometres. Both of these are being manufactured in the country under the ATGM license production. The indigenous NAG ATGM is also going to join this list. Nag is ready to target Chinese and Pakistani tanks. DRDO has prepared and its production is being done by Deface PSU Bharat Dynamic Limited. Through this, up to 90 percent accuracy can be killed after firing on the target. The special thing about this missile is that it has been mounted on the BMP 2 carrier. It has been given the name “NAMIKA” (NAMIKA), which means Nag missile carrier. According to a report, the Indian Army has been attempting ATGM procurement of the new generation for a long time.

Preparations for the purchase of American Javellin

The military is preparing to buy “Javelin” anti-tank guided missiles and “Stryker” infantry combat vehicles from the US. There are different variants of the Stryker. These include infantry carriers, mobile gun systems, medical evacuation, fire support, anti-tank guided missile carriers and reconnance vehicles. The Indian Army needs an anti-tank guided missile carrier. The company has also given a trial of the Javeline ATGM during the demo of the Stryker in Ladakh. The Javelin missile can easily destroy any tank, armored vehicle. The Javelin missile uses infrared technology to target its target. The ATGM weighs 22.3 kilos. It can be easily targeted at night due to its night vision capability.
