High-Altitude Military Drills in Arunachal Pradesh
Arunachal Pradesh, 27 March 2025 – The Indian Army successfully executed a high-intensity warfare exercise. This was a Tri-Service Integrated Multi-Domain exercise in the Eastern Theatre. This demonstrated its advanced combat capabilities. The exercise was named Exercise Prachand Prahaar. The drills took place from 25 to 27 March 2025. They were conducted in the challenging high-altitude terrain of Arunachal Pradesh. The exercise required close coordination between the Indian Army and Indian Air Force. Other military units were also involved to simulate future warfare scenarios.
Advanced Warfare Capabilities on Display
The Eastern Command guided the exercise. It highlighted seamless integration of surveillance and precision strikes. The exercise also focused on multi-domain operational planning. Numerous advanced assets were deployed. These included long-range maritime reconnaissance aircraft, armed helicopters, UAVs, loitering munitions, and space-based intelligence platforms. These technologies enabled real-time situational awareness and rapid target engagement.
Once simulated enemy positions were identified, coordinated strikes were launched using fighter jets. Long-range rocket systems and medium artillery were employed. Swarm drones, kamikaze drones, and armed helicopters were also used. The operations were conducted in an electronically contested environment, replicating the complexities of modern warfare.
Senior Military Leadership Commends Operational Readiness
Lieutenant General Ram Chander Tiwari, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command, reviewed the exercise. Air Marshal Surat Singh, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Air Command, also conducted a review. Both senior officials lauded the troops for their exceptional operational performance and seamless coordination between the services.
Building on Previous Exercises for Enhanced Joint Operations
Exercise Prachand Prahaar follows the momentum set by Exercise Poorvi Prahar. That exercise took place in November 2024. It focused on aviation asset integration. The latest drill expanded on that foundation. It validated a fully synchronized approach to surveillance, command and control, and precision firepower. This involved all three branches of the armed forces.
Strengthening India’s Defence Posture
This large-scale exercise underscores India’s growing emphasis on jointness, technological advancement, and preparedness in addressing multi-domain threats. It reinforces the country’s commitment to safeguarding its strategic frontiers. It deters potential adversaries and ensures rapid, decisive responses to evolving security challenges.
