Shocking Claim by Victim’s Father Sparks Black Magic Allegations
A sensational twist has emerged in the Meghalaya honeymoon murder case. The father of the deceased, Raja Raghuvanshi, alleges that his daughter-in-law, Sonam Raghuvanshi, used “tantra-mantra” (black magic) on his son. He claims she did this before allegedly orchestrating his murder.
Raja and Sonam, both residents of Indore, had gone to Meghalaya for their honeymoon but went missing on May 23. Raja’s body was discovered on June 2, sending shockwaves across the country. Authorities have since arrested Sonam, her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha, and three accomplices in connection with the murder.
Mysterious Bundle, Rituals, and a Trail of Deceit
Raja’s father, Ashok Raghuvanshi, made a startling statement. He claimed: “On Sonam’s instructions, Raja had hung a strange bundle at the main door of our house. She told him it would protect us from evil.”
He added that following Raja’s death, the bundle was promptly removed. He now believes Sonam may have used black magic to manipulate or control Raja.
A Disappearance and a Dubious Kidnapping Claim
Raja’s body was found. Afterward, Sonam mysteriously resurfaced on June 9 in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh. It is the hometown of her alleged lover, Raj Kushwaha. Sonam claimed she had been kidnapped. However, police dismissed her story, citing solid evidence of her involvement in the murder. She was arrested shortly after.

Marriage Under Astrological Conditions: Victim’s Mother Speaks Out
Raja’s mother, Uma Raghuvanshi, revealed that both Raja and Sonam were considered “Mangliks”. This term refers to a person influenced by Mars in Vedic astrology. They were married according to an astrologer-approved muhurat (auspicious timing).
“Sonam stayed at our house for only four days after the wedding. If I ever meet her again, I only want to ask—why did she kill my son?” Uma said.
Police Suspect More Than Just a Love Triangle
Early investigations suggested a love triangle as the primary motive. However, Meghalaya DGP Idashisha Nongrang hinted at deeper, more complex motives.
“It’s unusual that such extreme animosity could arise within just days of marriage,” she said.
Police are now investigating all possible angles, including occult practices, manipulation, and financial or personal motives.
Investigation Tightens: Strong Evidence in Hand
According to the DGP, the police have “enough evidence” and are in the process of tying up remaining loose ends.
“We have a solid case,” Nongrang emphasized, hinting at further revelations in the coming days.
Public Demands Justice
As the case unfolds, Raja’s family is demanding the harshest punishment for the accused.
“They should be hanged for this brutal crime,” said Ashok Raghuvanshi.
The Meghalaya honeymoon murder has shocked the nation. It involves a mix of alleged betrayal, ritualistic practices, and a chilling murder plot. As police dig deeper, more unsettling details may emerge. It is already being called one of India’s most disturbing recent murder cases.
