Another Death Due To Sudden Heart Attack: 21-Year-Old Wushu Athlete Dies During the Match
In a tragic incident, a 21-year-old Wushu athlete named Mohit Sharma from Jaipur lost his life. This highlights the rising incidence of heart attacks in India. The incident occurred during an All India University Wushu Championship held in Chandigarh three days ago. Mohit had already clinched a win in the first round. He was performing strongly in the second. Suddenly, he suffered a heart attack upon entering the ring.
Eyewitnesses report that moments after stepping into the ring, Mohit’s condition deteriorated rapidly, and he collapsed face down. Despite the referee’s desperate attempts to revive him, Mohit could not be saved. He was immediately rushed to a government hospital in Chandigarh, where doctors, after a swift examination, declared him dead.
Organizers of the championship, including Deepak Kumar, expressed shock and sorrow over the untimely demise of the promising athlete. Kumar revealed that Mohit had been advancing confidently in the competition. Then, the sudden onset of the heart attack left everyone stunned. It was an unforeseen tragedy.
A video of the incident has quickly gained attention on social media. It shows the heart attack and is widely shared. This raises serious concerns about the increasing prevalence of heart-related conditions in India. These issues are even present among young, fit athletes. A report in the Daily Bhaskar mentioned this incident. The local SHO confirmed that Mohit’s death was due to a heart attack during the tournament.
Mohit’s body has been placed in the government hospital mortuary in Kharrar, and his family has been informed. Authorities have stated that a postmortem examination will be conducted before the body is handed over to his grieving family. The incident serves as a somber reminder of the vulnerability of even the seemingly healthiest individuals. It has sparked discussions on the need for better cardiovascular health monitoring and awareness among athletes in India.
