UPPCL Enhances Electricity Bill Payment Experience on Mobile Apps

UPPCL rolls out user-friendly bill payment update across digital platforms

Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) has launched a simplified bill payment system. This innovation makes electricity payments more accessible and efficient. It is especially beneficial via mobile apps. As part of the Digital India initiative, this new feature eliminates the need for consumers. They no longer have to manually select their electricity distribution company (DISCOM).

Just Select UPPCL and Your District

Consumers can now pay their electricity bills by simply choosing ‘UPPCL’ and their district, rather than selecting the specific DISCOM. This updated process helps reduce errors and enhances user convenience, especially for those unfamiliar with the earlier method

The change is applicable across popular mobile payment platforms, including Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, Amazon Pay, and BHIM UPI. Once the correct district is selected, users only need to enter their account number to proceed with the payment.

No More Confusion Over DISCOM Selection

Previously, selecting the wrong DISCOM during bill payments often led to transaction failures or delays. The revised approach solves this problem by standardizing the biller name across platforms. This standardization simplifies the process for all users.

Gradual Transition and Deadline

This user-centric feature was initially introduced on the official UPPCL website. It is now being extended to mobile applications for a wider reach. Both the old and new systems are currently functional to help users transition smoothly.

However, UPPCL has announced that starting next month, only the new, simplified payment method will be accepted. This step aims to make digital bill payments faster, easier, and more secure for residents across Uttar Pradesh.
